If you haven’t already, meet Daisy–an Australian brand run by husband and wife duo Gibson and Renee Fox. The pair have collaborated multiple times for youth culture beacons like Ksubi and Oyster Magazine and Daisy marks their latest independent venture together. Daisy was initially conceived as a small project to allow the pair to expand the scope of their creative experimentation and self-expression beyond their other projects. They describe the working process as an on-going conversation with Renee mainly focusing on the design, while Gibson is in charge of photography and production.
For their second collection, ‘Human Emotion’, Gibson and Renee looked at traditional dress from the Medieval to Renaissance periods, taking key aristocratic elements such as silk brocade and velvet and giving them a modern twist, resulting in a series of mini slip-dresses and bared midriffs. Lace-up distressed leather pants and renaissance Bastian shirts are made suddenly fashionable and sexy. Styled with a pair of thigh-high boots, sprawling on a couch, the Daisy ‘Human Emotion’ girl is an innocent modern-day Lolita with her nose in a dusty old book.
