Picnic at Hanging Rock is set near Melbourne in 1900, when a teacher takes her private girls’ college pupils on a lunch trip by Hanging Rock. After the picnic, a group of four decide to climb the rock and explore; their concerned teacher follows them. One girl is found hysteric and disoriented with no recollection of what happened, the other three girls and their teacher mystically disappear. The town searches for them relentlessly, but without avail.
Photographer Egor Tsodov teamed up with stylist Mar Peidro to shoot this story inspired by Joan Lindsay’s 1967 novel. Bewildered by the unsolved mystery, this is their highly stylish take on what could have occurred within the rugged maze of Hanging Rock. Where did they go? What transpired within the monolith? And what happened to the girl who was found?
