Chris Habana takes his avid fascination with futurism and punk aesthetic to new heights with his latest campaign for the CHRISHABANA Fall/Winter 2017 collection. After a period of creating pieces displayed on the silver screen in film adaptations of cult favorites Ghost in The Shell and A Wrinkle In Time, Chris was inspired to rethink and elevate the way jewelry is visually depicted. Cinematic influences including Ichi the Killer, Oldboy, Suicide Club, and Kill BIll as well as the dark sexuality of Nobuyoshi Araki’s photography led to the concept of an Asian underworld set in the future. Entitled “Fight Club”, the jewelry campaign goes beyond fashion and gives voice to an epic alternate reality. New York’s Chinatown neighborhood serves as the backdrop for an all Asian cast of enigmatic and sensual characters including a rockabilly, madame, concubine, kingpin, and schoolgirl assassin. The story is brought to life with wardrobe styled by King Kong fashion editor Kurt Johnson, architectural hairstyles created by Gonn Kinoshita, polarizing beauty looks courtesy of Ryan Burke and photography by Dom Smith, whose classic portraiture has served as great contrasts to CHRISHABANA’s intriguing creations.
