NATIONAL PRIDE

In a time where we’re becoming increasing desensitized to images of destruction, and more notably accustomed to political uproar, or even a looming possibility of World War 3, Rowan Papier set out to create a series of images that deal with the expanding division, fear, and demise of American civilisation.

Dystopian cities crumble, featuring windows taken from images of Trump Tower itself, and note the date 04.14.17 – The tragic day on which the US infamously dropped ‘the mother of all bombs’ on ISIS in Afghanistan. The model, Saul, is a Jiu Jitsu fighter as well as an newly trained officer at the NYPD: A well fitting subject for these images. Papier has used details as such to highlight the somewhat confusing, saddening, and frightening experience for many people living in modern day America, although he hopes the future looks different.
