‘At a Time, For a Time’ is a portraiture series made in and around London by photographer Christopher Espinosa Fernandez.
The style and aesthetic of the project is influenced by American culture and world cinema. Fernandez evokes everyday occurrences and elevates them beyond banality. The images possess a sense of intensified drama, despite the subjects appearing somewhat detached from their surroundings. What might otherwise be perceived as trivial behaviour—unintended movements, insignificant expressions—are imbued, suddenly, with a mysterious narrative power.
